Live in the Light of Abundance

Question: If we all possess the Divine Spark of God which knows only abundance (health, wealthy, fulfillment) why is it that we so readily attract the energy of scarcity into our lives (illness, poverty, hunger)? Anytime we feel low on energy, sick, down on our luck or depressed we only need to affirm "I'm a child of divine birthright and let go of all thoughts of scarcity in my and claim abundance as my inheritance!"

By Divine birthright we have access to this same energy of abundance and only need to acknowledge it and make it our own. Let go of you ideas of scarcity and begin living in the light of abundance and watch as your situation changes almost instantaneously!

Are You Happy?

"Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be." - Abraham Lincoln

Greetings Readers!

It's been busy the past few days and I'm finally going to be able to do something I've been planning for months – go to the movies!

It's amazing how something so simple can add a little joy to one's day. That's why, regardless of circumstances, it's imperative to do something at least once a week that at least ENCOURAGES happiness. It will keep you healthy if you do. J

What makes you happy? What do you do to put a smile on your face each week? More importantly, what do you do to make others happy? Oh! Thanks to Shelly and Danielle for inspiring today's post.

Have a PERFECT day!

Be Not a Victim of Circumstance

Greetings Readers!

Today, I'm inspired by the words of legendary martial artist Bruce Lee. I was lying in bed doing something I don't usually do: worrying about working, finances – you know the drill. I decided take my mind off things with some reading when I came across a familiar quote of Bruce's: "To hell with circumstances, I CREATE opportunities".

Sometimes we get so caught up in our own sorrow and self pity it stagnates our creativity and ability to solve what appear to be impossible situations. The energy of the Universe revolves around abundance not scarcity. If we continuously dwell on what we don't have or what we can't get the Universe can only give us what we're requesting – MORE SCARCITY!

Regardless of our situation we must endeavor to focus on what we do have and cling to an inner knowing that everything else will make its way to you in DIVINE time. That doesn't mean that you say to yourself "I will get a job" and then not actively look for one. Remember "As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead." James 2:26. We must ACTIVELY participate in our own destiny!

Don't be a victim of circumstance. Take control of your destiny and become the person you know you can be. I leave you with another quote from Bruce: "Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless - like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle, you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend."

Toxic Relationships – From Victim to Victor

Greetings Readers!

So I'm watching the third season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (having to watch the show for a whole semester of English 102 has me hooked again. Anyway…) and there's this episode called "The Beauty and the Beasts" which, for all intents and purposes deals with abusive relationships.

This got me thinking about the warning signs of these types of relationships (physical/mental/emotional abuse, Isolations from friends/family, double standards and substance abuse to name a few) and why we choose to ignore them.

I think we sometimes cling to toxic people because of the initial attention we receive. This is especially so when a first love is involved. From that point something in our minds formulates the equation that somebody is better than nobody. Regardless of how much pain this person puts you through you STILL go back to them.

How do you break free of this person? How can you let go of someone you love so much that, whether you know it or not, is feeding off of your torment? Here are a few suggestions:

  • First, embrace a victor's attitude by admitting you're in an unhealthy relationship and will no longer intentionally be a victim.
  • Get a support team together of your closest friends, counselors, ANYONE that can help you stay devoted to letting go of the toxic person.
  • Accept that you deserve to be happy. It's a right all beings have and no one should hinder yours.

No one has the right to hold your love/friendship hostage. You deserve to be with someone that will cherish and respect. Be patient…that Love WILL find you if you feel you deserve it.

Coping with Adversity

"Adversity is like a strong wind. It tears away from us all but the things that cannot be torn, so that we see ourselves as we really are." - Arthur Golden

Greetings Readers!

Before I begin, I would like to apologize for the delay in posts (and wish all the dads out there a Happy Belated Father's Day!). I purchased a domain name for the blog and foolishly tried to make the changes myself that would allow the MyIISense.com to point to the Blogger account. Needless to say, I had to contact support; everything should be A-OK in 2 days!

Now – On to the topic at hand…

Dealing with adversity is a very touchy subject for most people. It involves coming to terms with a particular situation or set of circumstances and, hopefully finding a solution. I recall reading something from Wayne Dyer's book The Power of Intention that applies here: Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.

As stated in the opening quote, adversity can be seen as transformative wind that blows away the things that we may be clinging to and leaves us with what we need to endure and overcome our "troubles". Likewise it can be viewed as the fire that consumes our average everyday notions of what should be and forces us to be more creative in handling our "problems" to find a LASTING solution.

If we change the way we perceive what's going on in our lives from a negative view and instead envision the opportunity in what is going on around us I would bet my last dollar that the outcome of our situations would be much more positive. What are your thoughts? How do you deal with adversity? Comment and let us know!

Making Sure Dad is All STRETCHED Out

Greetings Readers!

Since June is Dad's Month at My II Sense and I thought I'd continue my Wellness Wednesdays with a piece on stretching which is a great way to maintain your flexibility as you get older. I do a series of stretches before I go to work that help relieve back, knee and neck tension since I sometimes experience lower back and knee pain if I walk to much.

I know there are a lot of dads out there like me that sit behind a desk for extended periods of time so I've provided links below to a few online resources offering "Office Yoga" stretches; most can be done at your desk!

Finding Happiness During Difficult Times

The only way on earth to multiply happiness is to divide it. - Paul Scherer

Greetings Readers!

Let's face it, times are hard right now. VERY hard. Unemployment is at an all time high. People are losing their homes and jobs faster than the media can keep up with. It seems no one is exempt from the turmoil going on in society today.

For me, the issue is being under employed. I'm currently attending college to gain new skills but the reality is that even with these new skills it will be a challenge to find better employment.

I have my days (today in fact) when I feel like giving up. My wife has had similar bouts with this all consuming depression – we all have – but it's times like these when we must remain faithful and prayerful (in a manner in which we are ALREADY receiving) to make it through these rough waters.

But how do you do it? How do you keep your focus on the light at the end of the tunnel when it seems the closer you get the smaller that beacon becomes? It's no simple task…Neither is it impossible.

Regardless of what's going on around us there is a feeling deep inside that reminds us that things will get better if only we weather the storm just a little bit longer. You can call this knowing
by whatever name you like but acknowledge it. Seek it out. Listen to it. It WILL guide you through.

As suggested in the quote above it's imperative that we show one another kindness now more than ever before. Help a stranger on the street. Volunteer in your community. Be nice to that relative that everyone loves to hate.

I challenge everyone to share a little happiness with at least three people that they may not have considered doing so with before. Spread the light of love and watch as it blossoms in both the giver and the recipient.

By doing this we honor our primary purpose to be of service to one another and maybe gain a little more energy to make it through another day.

Have a PERFECT day!
